What Makes a Good Headshot? Part 1

Focusing on What Jobs You Want!

In order to get the most out of your headshot session, you need to know who you are and who you want to play. Unfortunately, narrowing down one's type is also probably the hardest thing for most clients to do! But I'll tell you what, you really can play most characters. Honest. The problem is that if you come into a headshot shoot with only that in mind, your shots are going to be too broad and general for casting directors and agents to get a good idea of your essence. And that's where I come in! As your headshot photographer, I help you focus the type of characters you want to play.

Still need help? I always ask my clients, "If someone offered you three roles on a silver platter - and they're yours! - who are you playing?" Are you playing the Silverlakey gal who analyses all the data on CSI? Are you playing the bad boy investigator on Supernatural? What roles on tv and film excite you? Once we have the focus of which sides we want to emphasize with you, we have all the hard work ahead of us finished! You inhabit the character, playing up the truisms of that type, while I capture you in this role. So now you have photos of you in the type of role you know you're perfect for, and best of all, you look like you. That makes an excellent headshot!
Check it out! He's a "Dad," "Hip Bachelor," "Best Friend," and "Office Boss."
